The Moose Jaw Early Years Family Resource Centre, in partnership with OVG360
operators of the Moose Jaw Events Centre, Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce, Moose Jaw
Public Library and the Moose Jaw Literacy Network held its first annual Touch a Truck event here in
Moose Jaw this past September to the enjoyment of over 1000 people taking in the one-day event.
Children were able to get up close and personal with firetrucks, police cars, school buses, ambulance
and many more vehicles located in and around the Moose Jaw Events Centre to learn more about them,
how they work, and the incredible people that operate them.
“The day was amazing!” commented Moose Jaw Literacy Network Coordinator Christine Boyczuk. “The
engagement among the children, families, drivers and operators enriched the children’s learning
experience very much. We were all so grateful for the owners and operators who got into the event in
such a positive way. The management and staff at the Event Centre went out of their way to create a
successful event. We hope that we will be able to host this event for many years and many children to
come.”
The event was free to attend with proceeds from the outdoor concession being donated to the Dolly
Parton Imagination Library – Moose Jaw Chapter.
“The Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce is proud to be the community partner of the Touch-A-Truck Event, the event’s committee did a fantastic job! We believe that a strong community starts with
our youth, and we couldn’t be happier to be a small part of this event. Kudos to the Moose Jaw Event
Centre and all the businesses who came out to bring their trucks and equipment to the event.”
remarked Rob Clark, CEO Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce.
“To be able to host such an incredible event with and even more incredible group of organizations is
truly amazing.” commented OVG360 General Manager at the Moose Jaw Events Centre, Ryan MacIvor.
“Proceeds donated today from the event will benefit the local chapter of the Dolly Parton Imagination
Library that supports children’s literary in their early learning years, something that is so important to
the success of the child’s future.”

Spectra Venue Management at the Moose Jaw Events Centre has achieved Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation, the gold standard for prepared facilities. Under the guidance of GBAC, a Division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, the Moose Jaw Events Centre has implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention in its facility/facilities.
“For us it is imperative to pro-actively plan our approach as we look to welcoming fans back to the venue,” says District General Manager for Spectra Venue Management Ryan MacIvor. “Ensuring the safety of our guests and staff is paramount moving forward, which is why we made haste in achieving our GBAC Accreditation.”
“We applaud Spectra’s efforts to go above and beyond to achieve this certification,” stated Fraser Tolmie, Mayor of the City of Moose Jaw. “It is important that when the Moose Jaw Events Centre reopens to fans they will be confident that the right protocols and procedures are in place.”
As the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response, and recovery accreditation, GBAC STAR™ helps organizations establish protocols and procedures, offers expert-led training and assesses a facility’s readiness for biorisk situations.
“GBAC STAR accreditation empowers facility owners and managers to assure workers, customers and key stakeholders that they have proven systems in place to maintain clean and healthy environments,” said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. “By taking this important step to pursue GBAC STAR, MJEC has received third-party validation that it follows strict protocols for biorisk situations, thereby demonstrating its preparedness and commitment to operating safely.”
To achieve GBAC STAR™ accreditation, the Moose Jaw Events Centre was required to demonstrate compliance with the program’s 20 core elements, which range from standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment and emergency preparedness and response measures. Learn more about GBAC STAR accreditation at www.gbac.org.
